Psychosocial counselling in the OASIS Therapy Centre
What is the OASIS Therapy Centre?
Many people flee from hunger, torture or war in their homeland. We call these people refugees.
The refugees have often experienced very bad things. Their friends or family have died in the war or they themselves were tortured. Many of them cannot forget these things. This can even be so bad that the people become really ill.
The OASIS Therapy Centre helps the refugees to deal with these bad experiences.
Who works at the OASIS Therapy Centre?
Psychologists work at the OASIS Therapy Centre. Psychologists are professionals, who know people very well. They understand how people feel and think. And they know what can be done if you have experienced very bad things.
Many interpreters also work at the OASIS Therapy Centre. These are people, who can speak several different languages. They interpret between the refugees and the psychologists.
What does the OASIS Therapy Centre do?
The psychologists at the OASIS Therapy Centre speak with the refugees about their experiences. Through these conversations, they help the refugees to deal with their experiences. The refugees learn to deal with and to live with their experiences. They become healthy again. They can manage and shape their lives again independently.
